Great cinema for anyone

This cinema is tucked into a little alleyway in the centre of Newcastle but don't let that put you off. Not only is this cinema gorgeously decorated, reasonably priced and a wonderful venue it also caters very well for those in wheelchairs or needing extra assistance.

Ok, parking isn't brilliant. There is no onsite parking so you do have to park a couple of streets away however the pavement quality is fine, my father is in a wheelchair and we have never found parking to be an issue.

When you arrive there are doors with large buttons to the side at a wheelchair level which will open the door which is level with the pavements so if you're on your own getting in is no problem. There are lifts and ramps accessing every part of the cinema, there are also braille signs and accessible toilets on most floors.

I have taken this bit off the tyneside's website (www.tynesidecinema.co.uk) as they explain it best-
Each of the Tyneside’s Cinema's screens have power assisted doors and dedicated spaces for wheelchair users. Wheelchair user access to the Classic screen is in the Circle only but you can buy Circle tickets at the standard ticket rate for that screening. If you need to be accompanied by a companion to assist you, they will be admitted for free.

So not only do you get better seats for a better price, but if you come with a companion they wont charge for their ticket.

This cinema is a true gem and sadly overshadowed by some of the bigger, flashier cinemas in Newcastle but from my experience going with a wheelchair user the staff couldn't be nicer, the building couldn't be more accessible and they do it all without ever being patronising. Worth a visit!!
